Genesis of theoretical representations about person and personality in the history of philosophy
Keywords:
person, personality, average man, worldview, principle of hierarchy, principle of democracy, principle of unity, substance, ontologyAbstract
The article analyses the evolution of terms “person” and “personality” from the date of their beginning. It is proved that the ideological struggle has been carried out since Antiquity until the present time. It reflects the fight of an average man against a personality for the priority in society. The existence of the following approaches in history of philosophy: Christian, social and legal, praxiological, substantive, moral and spiritual and democratic is established. A proprietary approach – ontological – an approach, which beginnings are inherent in Christian, substantive, moral and spiritual approaches is defined. The ontological approach organically combines the principles of hierarchy and democracy with the dynamics of human development. In the context of activity, the priority should belong to the principle of hierarchy, which represents a person as a perfect actor. In the aspect of relationships and communication, the principle of democracy is applicable: every person regardless of his intellectual-psychological level of development should be treated as a personality.
