About the journal
The Ukrainian theoretical and methodological socio-humanitarian journal “Psychology and Society” (a scientific periodical) was founded in 2000. The founder and publisher of the journal is West Ukrainian National University.
Until 2020, the journal was published quarterly; since 2021, it has been issued twice a year.
Media identifier: R-30-04424 (Decision of the National Council of Ukraine on Television and Radio Broadcasting dated May 9, 2024, No. 1561).
Registration number of the media entity in the international Research Organization Registry (ROR): 047988g19 (West Ukrainian National University).
The journal is included in the List of Scientific Professional Publications of Ukraine, Category “B,” in the field of psychological sciences, specialty 053 Psychology (Order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine No. 1188 dated September 24, 2020).
The publication is registered as both a print and an online periodical (ISSN 1810-2131 – Print; ISSN 2523-4099 – Online) and assigns a digital object identifier (DOI) to all published issues and articles (https://doi.org/10.35774/pis).
Since 2012, the journal has been indexed in Google Scholar; since 2017, it has been indexed in the Index Copernicus international database (Poland).
The founder and permanent Editor-in-Chief of the journal is a well-known Ukrainian scholar, educator, and promoter of methodology — Doctor of Psychological Sciences, Professor Anatolii Vasyliovych Furman.
The aim of the journal is to highlight the latest achievements of contemporary socio-humanitarian discourse within both global and ethno-national dimensions of advanced philosophical and scientific thought. Its core objectives include:
a) constructive reflection on the current state and prospects of development of Ukrainian society, its psychoculture, and its human and intellectual resources;
b) presentation of newly developed theories, concepts, and models in psychology as a human-centered science and as an original sphere of thought-activity;
c) familiarization of readers with advances in modern methodology and professional methodological practice;
d) analytical and synthetic representation of new directions and methods for interpreting the history of world psychology, as well as the development of theoretical and applied psychology and the forms, methods, and tools of psychological practice.
Derived tasks include:
– acquainting contributors with authentic founders of Ukrainian nation-building and spiritual leaders of the nation;
– providing comprehensive presentations of the most substantial fundamental and methodologically grounded research across various domains of psychological knowledge;
– clarifying trends, prospects, and heuristic potential of theoretical and canonical branches of post-nonclassical psychology;
– initiating psychософical studies and projects;
– continuing the development and enrichment of such disciplinary areas as axiopsychology, psychodiagnostics, psycholinguistics, educology, psychodidactics, psychotherapy, etc.
The main sections of the journal include: issues of societal development, fundamental research, methodology as a sphere of thought-activity, theoretical psychology, educology, psychodidactics, social psychology, applied psychology, experimental psychology, and program-methodological tools, among others.
The editorial board and editorial council consist of leading Ukrainian and international scholars in the field of psychology. “Psychology and Society” publishes scholarly articles in psychology, methodology, and educology in Ukrainian and foreign languages. The print version of the journal is distributed nationwide, with an annual circulation exceeding one thousand copies. Full versions of each issue are available online with open and free access.
